“Overall, it’s a good system. If I had to hone in on anything, though, it is its simplicity. That makes it so much easier to train everyone else.”
“They help us validate our new customers when they come onboard. They are fast, easy to work with and provide updates whenever there are any issues with the IRS. Would recommend!”

FAQ
When Do I Need To File Taxes As An Uber Or Lyft Driver?
If you’re an Uber and Lyft driver, you are considered an independent contractor by the IRS. As an independent contractor, this means you don’t withhold taxes from your payments. At the end of the year, you’ll receive a 1099 form instead of a W-2 from your employer. Lyft and Uber drivers may receive two kinds of 1099 forms at the end of the year, depending on the type of earnings you make.
- You will receive a 1099-K if you had more than 200 rides and made over $20,000
- You will also receive a 1099-MISC if you made more than $600 in non-driving income. This non-driving income can include referral fees, bonuses, awards, etc.
As Uber and Lyft drivers, you pay two kinds of taxes: Self-employment taxes and income tax. Self-employment tax declaration is mandatory if you earned $400 or more.
Income taxes don’t have a standard rate. It depends on a few factors like other types of income that you have including filing status, tax brackets and tax deductions. You’ll report your income from your ride-sharing work on Schedule C. You will then attach it to the individual tax return, Form 1040.
What’s An EIN Number?
An EIN is a type of tax ID number. It stands for Employer Identification Number, and is also known as an Employer ID Number or a Federal Employer Identification Number. It’s a nine-digit number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to businesses for tax purposes.
Some sole proprietors and self-employed workers can use their Social Security Numbers (SSN) instead of an EIN to file tax returns.
